Step on in to Nat’s in Darlinghurst

Natalie was nervous

It’s normal for first time renovators to be a little timid. In fact, it’s human. So when Nat approached us asking if we could whisk away every last speck of the 90’s in her dated Darlinghurst apartment, we gave her our hallmark empathy and reassurance – from the planning, to the strata submissions we filed, to the full project management.

“I felt safe in Steve and his crew’s hands – everything had been thought through with a great amount of detail. Each element and cost was clearly outlined.”

Out of the nineties

Our full apartment renovation redid Natalie’s kitchen, bathroom and laundry – from 90’s blah to the slick and fresh Scandi chic that Nat was drawn to throughout the design process. We moved walls for a more modern and open-plan space in the heart of the unit, and installed earthy American oak floorboards from Tongue And Groove on Dank St. The bathroom flooring was re-energised with cool stone tiles.

“We made sure to flow information through to Nat at every step of the process, so that she didn’t feel in the dark and so there’d be no last-minute surprises.”

— Steve & Lisa

The curveball

Every project has one. For Nat’s, it was the Keating-era kitchen which jutted out hexagonally into the living room, eating up precious inner-city space. To address this, we squared off the kitchen and added secret storage into the void.

And into today

Having spirited the 90’s out of every nook and cornice of Nat’s place, we completed her wardrobes, white-setting, painting and lighting. Brass door handles and hinges set Nat’s place further apart. But the true test it had entered the modern era? Her hidden laundry went crazy on Instagram.

“I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. I can’t recommend Tommico enough for anyone looking to update their home.”
